FAQ - love2linedance with rachel

Not at all! Rachel's classes are designed to welcome everyone, from complete beginners to experienced dancers. We have specific beginner-friendly sessions where you'll learn the basic steps and gradually build your confidence. Rachel takes time to ensure everyone feels comfortable and supported.

Footwear: Comfortable shoes with a smooth sole work best - leather-soled shoes, dance shoes, or even clean trainers. Avoid rubber soles as they can grip too much.

Clothing: Wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move freely. Many dancers enjoy dressing in country style, but it's not required! Layers are good as you might get warm dancing.

Accessories: Bring a water bottle and a towel. Hair ties are useful for long hair.

Classes typically last 1.5 hours and include:

  • Warm-up (5-10 minutes): Gentle stretching and easy movements
  • Review (10-15 minutes): Practice dances from previous weeks
  • New learning (45-60 minutes): Learn new steps or a new dance
  • Practice time (15-20 minutes): Dance through favorites and socialize
  • Cool down (5 minutes): Gentle stretching

Our classes welcome adults of all ages! We have dancers from their 20s right through to their 80s. The beauty of line dancing is that it brings people together regardless of age. Many of our students have formed wonderful friendships across different generations.

We also offer family-friendly sessions during school holidays where older children (12+) can join with their parents or grandparents.

Yes! Line dancing is excellent low-impact exercise that provides:

  • Cardiovascular fitness: Gets your heart rate up in a fun way
  • Coordination: Improves balance and body awareness
  • Memory training: Learning steps and sequences keeps your mind sharp

Many of our students have noticed improvements in their fitness, balance, and general well-being since joining our classes.

No! This is one of the best things about line dancing - you don't need a partner. Everyone dances individually but in sync with the group, creating a wonderful sense of community without the pressure of partner coordination.

Many of our students come on their own and quickly become part of our friendly dance family. It's a great way to meet new people and make friends with a shared interest.

We dance to a fantastic mix of music including:

  • Classic country: Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson
  • Modern country: Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton
  • Country pop: Taylor Swift's country era, Lady A, Florida Georgia Line
  • Rock & pop: Songs that work well for line dancing
  • Throwback hits: Classic songs everyone loves

Rachel chooses music that's fun to dance to and creates great energy. For private events, we can incorporate your favorite songs too!

Don't worry - everyone makes mistakes, even experienced dancers! That's part of the fun and learning process. Our classes are judgment-free zones where:

  • Rachel provides individual guidance and encouragement
  • Other students are supportive and helpful
  • You can step out anytime to watch and pick up the steps
  • Laughter and smiles are more important than perfect steps
  • Everyone progresses at their own pace

Remember: confidence comes with practice, and we're all here to have fun together!

You can join at any time! Our classes aren't structured as rigid courses, so new students are always welcome. Here's how we help new joiners:

  • Rachel provides individual attention to get you started
  • We often review basic steps at the start of each session
  • Experienced students are friendly and help newcomers
  • Your first class is half price to try it out
  • We teach a variety of dances, so everyone's always learning something
